Blushing Fig

Here’s a creative and sophisticated cocktail recipe that combines the tartness of grapefruit with the sweetness of figs, along with the botanical notes of gin. This drink is perfect for those who enjoy unique and balanced flavors.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz (60 ml) POSH gin
  • 1 oz (30 ml) freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz (30 ml) fig syrup (Recipe in instructions)
  • 1/2 oz (15 ml) lemon juice
  • 1-2 dashes of Angostura bitters
  • Ice
  • Fresh fig slice or grapefruit wedge for garnish
  • Fig Syrup
  • 4-5 fresh figs
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) water

Instructions:

  • Wash and slice the figs.

  • In a small saucepan, combine the figs, sugar, and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the figs break down and the mixture thickens slightly.
  • Remove the syrup from heat and strain it through a fine mesh sieve, pressing down to extract as much liquid as possible. Let the syrup cool to room temperature.
  • Fill your glass with ice.
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine the gin, grapefruit juice, fig syrup, lemon juice, and bitters. Fill the shaker with ice and shake well until chilled (about 15-20 seconds).
  • Strain the cocktail into your prepared glass.
  • Garnish with a fresh fig slice or a wedge of grapefruit.

TIPS

  • Fig Syrup: Store any leftover fig syrup in the refrigerator for up to a week. It can be used in other cocktails or even drizzled over desserts.
